Minutes- 2-20-04

The last meeting of the Cedarburg High School was called to order by Mike Breidenbach at 11:07 AM on Friday February 20, 2004. The treasurer's report was given by Eric Treske as $5,007.48. Old Business was discussed first. Results are in and Snowcoming (the winter dance) was a hit! The dance itself earned over $2000! It is the general consensus that making Snowcoming as big a thing as Homecoming was a great idea. Decorating went very well, though overall council attendance was quite poor. There were a few missing items including lights, a shirt, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Taking a tangent, Mr. and Ms. Irresistible was quite the success, despite some poor last day pricing. For next year rules should probably be spelled out clearer and prices should definitely remain constant! Just a thought. As for the Assembly, Mr. Sampe interjected that the staff thoroughly enjoyed the assembly. It seems everyone liked the dating game. Perhaps it shall continue to next year!  Also, it has been decided that we as a council need to thank everyone involved for the dances success. The full list is still being compiled. After old business was exhausted we learned all about Operation Awesome, Mr. Breidenbach's plan for compiling Standards of Excellence to aid in the governing process next year. Kudos to you Mike Breidenbach! Also it was mentioned and whole-heartedly accepted that we once again hold a well-structured StuCo Lock-In to strengthen the bonds which hold this council together. A date was not decided. The lovely Kim Kass also suggested that StuCo take a trip to her father's camp. This would be doable in the spring time. Sampe and Sorensen then read a few letters of condolences from our neighboring councils. Following the letters, Andrea Hockstad updated us on our iFlurtz sales. Sales will begin Wednesday February 25 during the lunch hours for $2 apiece along with a sucker or something. We also discussed StuCo's evolution into a donation factory (Camp Hartland, Make a Wish, Sock Hop, Mr. Boom's Benches, The Yellow Ribbon Project, and of course the Nicole Lynn Doedens Memorial Fund). It was decided that Student Council would continue to donate when possible but, would not give any more monetary donations until a policy was established by the Exec Board, D. Sampe, & P. Sorenson. Kelly Steffen brought up the possibility of a NSC dance in late May. The discussion caused a lot of turmoil. We soon tabled the matter, under the impression that it needed to be discussed with other councils first. Mr. Sorenson reminded the Yellow Ribbon Committee to make three contacts before their meeting this Friday, February 27, 2004. Mikey B. announced the completion of the Website. He also reminded the council to e-mail him email addresses to mikebreidenbach@wi.rr.com. To conclude the meeting we discussed the possibility of open forum after school meetings to get input from the student body. The meeting was adjourned at 12:01 PM. Juniors briefly met concerning prom.
